Ore Sorting

Sorting can turn previously unviable stockpiles and ore bodies into a realisable assets.

Using one or a combination of Infra-Red, Induction, X-ray and 3D Laser sensors, a wide range of ores can be sorted to reject waste products and deliver only the desired material to the processing plant, resulting in transport, handling and processing savings.

Induction sorting detects the differences in electrical conductivity between the waste and ore bearing material, just like a prospector’s metal detector, but on a grand scale.

X-ray transmission is one of the most versatile types of sensors, it can be widely used in narrow vein mining applications where there is a difference in density between the vein and the host rock.

The Near-Infrared sensor identifies colours associated with ore bodies, discarding the barren waste rock.

For example gold may be associated with quartz, which is hosted in a darker basalt material. The quartz is identified and accepted, while the basalt is rejected.
